Home Security Camera Systems

In this post, I want to take a look at the role of home security camera systems for protecting your home and you family. There are many different types of security systems available for your home and depending upon how much you are prepared to spend, you can have up to the minute latest gadgets that can do amazing things!

But for most folks, when it comes to protecting their homes there are a good selection of down to earth home security camera systems that do a really great job of monitoring your property as well as being a highly visual deterrent to all but the most determined would be burglars.

Security surveillance systems provide for one, two or more cameras to be mounted at strategic positions around your home to cover as much of the area as possible and these are hooked up either wired or wireless to a monitor inside your home which is itself connected to a recording device such as a DVr or video in older systems.

The cameras outside are visible to thieves who will steer clear for the most part and go rob someone else’s place that does not have any visible security. For more determined intruders, they will be captured by the camera and their image recorded digitally and at high resolution on more advanced systems for easy identification later if it should ever get that far. In most cases it won’t as even determined thieves will always take the path of least resistance. Meaning if your place looks too tough, or they risk being identified, they’ll stay away and go someplace else where they know they stand an easier chance of getting in and out without being seen.

So shop around, either in the real world stores or online for a good quality home security camera system that will protect your home for many years to come. It is money well spent, especially if you live in a neighbourhood that is prone to break-ins and burglary, or you have a nice house that would represent a target for an opportunist thief looking for easy and rich pickings.

Have a safe day!

Why Do We Need Gadgets?

Following on from our last post “Nokia E65 Cell Phone”, where we reviewed the popular Nokia E65 cell phone (mainly because the author has one and he likes it), I just want to break from the gadgets and talk briefly about why we even need all these gadgets in our lives!

Well, one school of thought is that technology is racing away at breakneck speed and it’s only natural to our human instincts of curiosity and a thirst for learning that we embrace the gadgets that are created and enjoy them for what they are. The creation of human intelligence and development of the power of our minds to even be able to make such things.

Another side of the argument says that these gadgets are unnecessary distractions to our thought processes and actually dull the creative abilities by taking over from the brain in the reasoning and calculating side of things. A big example would be the television and computer games. These things are truly a drain on the intelligence as they remove the need to think for ourselves.

Or some would argue it that way. Some would not. So I guess that’s really down to personal opinions, likes dislikes etc. Whatever swings your chain I guess is good enough for you and no one is going to judge you man!

Whichever way you look at it, technology and the gadgets it spawns are here to stay and will continue to get ever more complex and ingenious in their design, usefulness and advancement of the human power of creativity. So we either like ‘em or lump ‘em…

Nokia E65 Cell Phone

Nokia E65 Cell PhoneThe Nokia E65 cell phone is a pretty nice phone, I have to say because I’ve been using one for almost a year now and I’m pretty impressed with it enough to want to write about it. Its also a good way to follow up my introductory post “Gadget!”, and get this blog moving!

For starters, its fairly tough which is something I can’t say much for other phones I owned before this one. Other phones especially those with mainly plastic shells tended to fall to bits too quickly, or annoyingly the on/off switch would break. The Nokia E65 seems to be standing up to some moderately rough treatment without any problems.

Its got a nice batch of features but what drew it to me initially was the wi-fi and 3G capability as well as the Simbian operating system with a mini office suite that is actually readable in the nice big display. It takes standard micro SD memory cards and I have a 2gb card in mine which is ample for a selection of MP3’s and a growing library of images. Which reminds me I must upload them to the PC, for which a USB connector comes with the Nokia E65 kit.

The number keys are nicely hidden with the phone in its slide down position so no chance of accidentally ringing the other side of the world while its in your pocket!

I’m also amazed at the sound reproduction through its tiny built-in speaker – I actually listened to the live version of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably numb and it sounded far better than it should coming out of such a tiny orifice!

The camera is ok, 2 Mpx is not wonderful but the image reproduction is fine for displaying on the PC monitor and using as website images and it does well in low light.

The phone itself is pretty easy to get the hang of and the call quality is clear and sharp.

What can I say, but if you want a full function phone for not too much money, the Nokia E65 is a pretty good choice.
